Research Interests and Projects: My interests are in the areas of Machine Learning and Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence, and Efficient Algorithms and my research explores theoretical questions, empirical questions, and applications. Most recently my work has focused on problems in two broad areas: Theory, Algorithms and Applications of Graphical models and Stochastic Planning (aka Reinforcement Learning) and its Relation to Probabilistic Inference.


RA positions available in AI and in ML:

AI: We are looking for strong PhD students with background in AI, planning, probabilistic inference, reinforcement learning and statistical relational models. Ideal candidates will have strong theoretical interest and skills and excellent programming and system building skills.
ML: We are looking for strong PhD students with background in probability and statistics, data mining, machine learning and in algorithms and complexity. Ideal candidates will have strong theoretical interest and skills and excellent programming and system building skills.
